Two-Week Industry Readiness Training
BioStart prepares individuals for entry-level bioscience roles by combining general employability skills with industry-specific expectations such as safety, regulated workplace practices, and teamwork. Whether participants bring STEM-related education, prior experience, or other strong qualifications, the program offers an industry deep dive that helps position them more competitively for apprenticeships, internships, or employment with Oregon bioscience companies.

What You’ll Learn
- Industry overview: labs, cleanrooms, and GMP/GDP expectations
- Safety fundamentals and regulated workplace practices
- Documentation, SOPs, data integrity, and quality mindset
- Lean basics and problem-solving on the production floor
- Essential employability skills (communication, teamwork, reliability)
- Career navigation, resumes, and interview preparation
Participant Outcomes
- Gain a basic understanding of regulated environments (GMP/GDP)
- Introduction to SOPs, documentation, Lean principles, and quality systems
- Strengthen workplace communication and teamwork
- Develop a bioscience-focused resume and practice interviewing
Eligibility
- Located in Oregon; unemployed or underemployed
- High school diploma or GED (no recent high school graduates)
- Availability for full-day online sessions during the two-week period
