Oregon Life Sciences Announces Interim President & CEO

News & Reports,

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I’m pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ndeye Makalou as Interim President & CEO of Oregon Life Sciences, effective immediately.

Dr. Makalou is a seasoned biopharma executive and strategic advisor with more than 20 years of experience leading initiatives across the healthcare and life sciences ecosystem. Her background includes senior leadership roles at Roche and Genentech, where she led work spanning commercial strategy, global operations, market development, and health equity. Most recently, she founded and led GlobalImpact Bio Consulting, advising organizations on strategic growth, partnerships, and organizational leadership.

Her experience across industry, government, and global health partnerships — combined with a collaborative and execution-focused leadership style — positions her well to support Oregon Life Sciences and its members during this next chapter.

“Oregon Life Sciences sits at the center of one of the most important economic opportunities in the state,” said Dr. Makalou. “I am honored to step into this role and committed to ensuring that the momentum this organization has built across workforce development, the Competitiveness Task Force, industry engagement, the Legislative Biotech Caucus, and member services continues without interruption. My focus is on the work ahead, and I look forward to partnering with our members, our board, and the broader life sciences community to keep Oregon moving forward.”

As part of this transition, Liisa Bozinovic will step down from her role as Executive Director at the end of May and will remain engaged in an advisory capacity to support the continued execution of the Oregon Life Sciences Competitiveness Task Force.

On behalf of the Board, I also want to thank Liisa for her leadership and contributions to Oregon Life Sciences and the broader life sciences community. Under her leadership, the organization expanded its statewide presence, strengthened industry engagement, advanced workforce development initiatives, and helped elevate Oregon’s visibility within the global life sciences ecosystem.

We look forward to working with Ndeye and continuing to build momentum for Oregon’s life sciences industry and community.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Makalou to Oregon Life Sciences.

Best regards,

Tim Brown
